Our Concord tour will take you inside several historic midcentury modern homes, including the 1962 Adler House by the venerable Boston-based firm Goody Clancy and homes from the iconic Massachusetts MCM pre-fab company, Deck House!

The belief that aesthetics, practicality, and affordability could be simultaneously achieved was a major driving force behind the construction of many midcentury modern houses. In suburban Boston, companies and entire neighborhoods were formed with these principles in mind.

The first portion of our event will include tours of homes in the Jennie Dugan Road neighborhood—a treasure trove of Deck Houses—followed by a tour of the nearby Adler House, a high-style dwelling built into a steep wooded hillside.

Skillfully renovated by expert architects, the Deck Houses included on this tour are fantastic examples of pre-fabricated still-fabulous home, enduring and evolving for the 21st-century!

Here's a taste of one of them: "The project plan and philosophical design concept for the project was to “re-imagine” the original interior using materials salvaged from demolished Deck Houses…The elements were used throughout the home to create a consistent motif to knit together old and new architectural components." It was also nearly a filming location for HBO's Julia Childs series!

Offered one day only. Space is limited.

This is a "hybrid" tour, starting with a short amount of walking on Jennie Dugan. Participants will then drive their vehicles to tour the second home.

Specific meet-up location and information provided in your confirmation email.
