Meet Fort Wadsworth Park Ranger Kathy under Alice Austen’s historic London Planetree for an afternoon of artmaking. Express your artisitic interpretation of the Alice Austen House, historic trees and meadow using various art media that the whole family will enjoy!  Figurative painting, seascape and Staten Island’s favorite pony “Penny” may all be included as subjects of your artwork. Art materials will be provided but feel free to bring your own!

The London Planetree in Alice Austen Park is thought have been growing since Alice Austen’s grandfather purchased Clear Comfort cottage in the 1840s. The tree bears dramatic scarring from a lightning strike but is still thriving.
