Whose buildings are deemed beautiful? Which sites are worthy of being preserved? What history is worth retelling? Join accomplished preservationists and new graduates to the field for this virtual discussion that explores what they're doing to correct long-standing marginalization and disparities in coverage in the field of historic preservation. The panelists will explore these challenges and discuss how they’re being met by BIPOC scholars, educators and practitioners and their allies. The initiative Preservation Side B, created by Pratt Historic Preservation Alumni Taylor Kabeary and Eduardo Duarte Ruas, will frame our discussion. Preservation Side B is rooted in celebrating and highlighting aspects of preservation in marginalized communities left out of traditional preservation teachings and practices.
