Join New Amsterdam and Mulberry Street staff for a fun and informative discussion on the architecture of Lower Manhattan. Learn about architectural history and gain new insight into the buildings you live in, work in and pass by every day. We’ll be discussing the opulent Beaux-Arts style, the stately Neoclassical style, the futuristic (for the 1920s and 30s) Art Deco, the richly detailed Gothic Revival, and much more. Beginning with a brief overview on architectural styles and ornamentation, we’ll apply that knowledge on a walk through these distinctive neighborhoods. We’ll meet at the Mulberry Street Library and continue south to New Amsterdam Library, stopping along the way to see some of the most iconic buildings in New York, as well as some hidden gems and fascinating details. We hope to see you there!
