Step inside historic colonial-era homes on this new tour, offered June 20th only!

Once considered Connecticut's frontier wilderness, in the mid-18th century Litchfield County began to attract scores of new homesteaders looking for "fresh land" and to start new towns. This marked the final chapter of colonial settlement for the state—all available land in Connecticut was now laid out into townships. Today, its pastoral landscape echoes this historic period across a tapestry of wooded hills, farmland, and quaint villages with a beautiful array of colonial-era homes.

This tour will bring you inside several private colonial-era homes found in the Litchfield County towns of Salisbury and Falls Village (Canaan), with many more highlighted from the comfort of our charter bus.

Vernacular farmhouses, Federal-style dwellings, and the iconic Cape are some topics of colonial-era architecture that will be seen and discussed on this tour, along with stories about the people and history of these places.

Interior stops include the Samuel Robbins House, considered one of Falls Vilage's finest examples of Federal architecture; an 18th-century home originally the residence of the sister of Noah Webster, namesake of the Merriam-Webster Dictionary; and more!
