What can architects and designers learn from global efforts to advance Indigenous rights and priorities? In this session, Diego A. Tituaña Matango, a member of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII), will share the perspective and updates from the Forum with particular relevance to Indigenous knowledge, architecture and the built environment.  

The United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues is a high-level advisory body to the United Nations Economic and Social Council, with a mandate addressing Indigenous issues related to economic and social development, culture, the environment, education, health, and human rights.

Through the lens of the Forum's work, Diego will explore current issues and developments that intersect with architecture, design, planning, and the built environment. The conversation will consider these topics through the subthemes of Indigenous knowledge, nature, media, culture, history, and education, offering perspectives on how international conversations around Indigenous rights and priorities can inform design practice.
