A conversation about Amazonian Calendars: Indigenous Data Visualizations, developed with Quechua communities in the Amazon of so-called Peru

What happens when Indigenous knowledge travels across communities, exhibitions, and back home? Through film screenings and a conversation with Claudia Tomateo, Grimaldo Rengifo, and Catherine D’Ignazio, we revisit Amazonian Calendars: Indigenous Data Visualizations, an exhibition developed with Quechua communities in the Amazon of so-called Peru and hosted at the MIT Media Lab. Following its journey from the Amazon to Cambridge and back to the communities through a traveling fabric exhibition system, we reflect on cycles of knowledge sharing and how embodied and land-based knowledges can be represented, shared, and sustained through reciprocal relationships.
