Director: Nico Weber
US Premiere
Trailer

A cinematic essay on perception and the afterlife of ideas — told through a place in transition.

The Bauhaus existed for only fourteen years, yet became an idea large enough to survive its own end. Born after World War I, it set out to rethink how people might live, learn, work and build together. A century later, it is history, heritage, institution, brand and myth.

At Berlin’s displaced Bauhaus-Archiv / Museum für Gestaltung, Nico Weber returns for five years to an institution without its house, while behind fences a new museum rises. People remember, search, measure, question and carry history into the present.

The construction site does not remain a setting for long. It enters the film. Built in seven chapters, bauhaus forever. becomes a construction site itself: fragmented, interrupted, unfinished.

The film inhabits the space in between — past and present, idea and institution, preservation and change. What was meant to disturb the order of things is now preserved, marketed and attacked again. A dead idea would not need to be attacked. Modernity is not safely stored in an archive. It remains under pressure.
