The William Landsberg House, Port Washington, Long Island renovated by Stephen Moser Architects with kitchen design by Henrybuilt.

A rare opportunity to get up close and personal with an iconic mid-century home listed on the National Record of Historic Places. Join us for an open house and talk at the William Landsberg home in Port Washington, Long Island, renovated and restored by Stephen Moser Architects. The 1951 house was designed by and for Landsberg, who studied at Harvard University with Marcel Breuer and later worked for him. In 1956, Landsberg established his own architecture practice, gaining regional fame for his Bauhaus-inspired designs.

The architect’s challenge was to take a beautiful piece of mid-century modern architecture and to respectfully but creatively integrate the design elements of a contemporary Japanese-American lifestyle. The centerpiece of the renovation was the reconfiguration of the kitchen in the middle of the house. Henrybuilt collaborated with SMA and the clients to create a contemporary kitchen in the spirit of Landsberg’s original design, while updating it for modern-day performance and embracing the clients Japanese-style cooking and serving.
