The word window comes from old Norse language meaning ”wind eye”. Windows are the eyes of a building, letting people inside see the world outside. What do you see from your window? What would you like to see?

Materials: Pencil, Colored pencils or crayons, Paper

Step 1: Find your favorite window that you like to look out of.

Step 2: Using your pencil, draw the window and the view that you see through it. When you are ready, add some color to your drawing.

Step 3: Draw your window again, but this time, draw what you would like to see outside. We chose an island in Greece.

Step 4: Share a photograph of your creation on Instagram! Tag @centerforarchk12 and use #ArchitectureAtHome.

Architecture at Home, a series of family-friendly activities offered in partnership with the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development, gathers new activities and design challenges on our website, Facebook, and Instagram.
