The Coronavirus pandemic has underscored the importance of community-building and creating livability and prosperity in cities. What was already a public policy and planning concern is even further at the forefront of government efforts at all levels. The post-pandemic vision of cities will depend on successful community organizing, sound urban design, and evolving policy to promote equitable redevelopment. But how can communities begin to lay the groundwork for these monumental tasks? Presenters will discuss the impact and importance of urban design on community redevelopment efforts and how the broader post-pandemic strategy will evolve to meet these needs. This discussion will address community development from both the nonprofit sector and development industry perspectives.
