Explore the history of the United States vis-a-vis its synagogues. Jews have lived in the United States since 1654 and have built synagogues in all styles–from simple wood-frame structures to elaborate designs ranging from Moorish Revival to Classical to Romanesque and even Art Deco. We will explore the myriad synagogues designed by such noted architects as Frank Lloyd Wright, Adler and Sullivan, Louis Kahn and Minuro Yamasaki (who also designed the World Trade Towers).
