For this year’s National Design Month, Cooper Hewitt highlights some of the inspiring organizations from around the country that share the museum’s mission to educate, inspire, and empower through design. This week’s program features the work of Project Invent, a nonprofit organization based in Menlo Park, California dedicated to empowering every high school student to become an inventor.

In addition to accumulating future-ready, problem-solving skills, Project Invent students experience the power of empathy-driven design by addressing real problems in their local communities. Join a team of Project Invent students for a first-hand look at their invention journey. In this program, students will guide the audience through their problem identification and design thinking process, and ask participants to brainstorm along the way. The program will conclude with the students revealing their working prototype and plans for the future.
