The New Canaan Museum & Historical society will broadcast two programs produced by its Modern New Canaan initiative: Evolution of Design and Three Iconic Houses. The first program is a 25-minute presentation on why New Canaan became the destination for mid-century modern architects and what makes their work distinctive. The second, a film by Devon Chivvis, explores three iconic houses in New Canaan: the Celanese House designed by Edward Durrell Stone, the Chivvis House designed by Eliot Noyes with an addition by Alan Goldberg, and the Boissonais House designed by Philip Johnson.
The evening will conclude in a round table discussion with homeowners, architects, and the filmmaker.
This event is free.
