Join the Center for Architecture’s K-12 Education Department for a mindful movement and design experiment open to all ages with DANCITECTURE. DANCITECTURE founder and Center for Architecture Design Educator Kimberly Tate will help us slow down and explore how our bodies and our city create and shape space, as we move through a labyrinth in the closed street in front of our space. Participants will also be invited to draw their own design ideas for activating this space for other purposes.

About the project and artist
DANCITECTURE is a BIPOC-centered, mindful movement experiment guided by a tape labyrinth. It invites us to explore the affinity between the shapes and stories of bodies and the choreography of spaces we design and inhabit. Kimberly Tate / Galaxxxy (she/they/we) is a Filipinx multidisciplinary embodied truth-seeker, artist, and educator. She is a mother and organizer of restorative spaces centering Black, Indigenous, People of Color, our bodies, experiences, and wisdom traditions. In addition to teaching with the Center for Architecture, she is a 2020 Create Change Fellow with the Laundromat Project and part-time assistant professor at Parsons School of Design School of Constructed Environments.
