Manitoga presents In the Landscape, a series of informed and inspired walks that reinforce observation and sensory exploration. Each individually themed walk is designed to relax, teach and cultivate a sense of place while exploring this resilient woodland with experts in horticulture and meditation.

Explore Manitoga’s landscape as a personal expression of designer Russel Wright during NY State Path Through History weekend. Join Emily Phillips, Manitoga’s Landscape Collection and Preservation Manager, on a 1-1/2 hr. / 1.5 mile moderate hike of Manitoga's woodland trails, featuring four osios (""beautiful view"" in native Algonquin) created by Wright to frame the Hudson River. Space is limited, reservations required, $20 per person.

PLEASE NOTE - In the Landscape experiences DO NOT include the House, Studio or Design Gallery.

Additional Information

PLEASE NOTE: Manitoga's guided hikes do not include a tour of the House & Studio.

Please review our VISITOR INFORMATION section when planning your visit.

Hikes are not conducted in inclement (severe) weather, including high winds, torrential rain, and lightning and/or thunder.

Manitoga does not allow pets, emotional support animals, comfort animals, or therapy dogs due to the sensitive habitat. Only ADA Title III service animals are permitted. Please refer to the ADA's service animal regulations for clarification. Manitoga has observed and determined that dogs, even on leash, threaten the character of the designed landscape. Stepping stones through fern meadows, moss carpets, and ephemeral pools that provide habitat for sensitive species are vulnerable to dog traffic and waste. To fully respect and contemplate the design and nature of the trails, please leave your pets at home.

You are welcome to picnic while hiking but please carry in-carry out. Please help keep the paths clean. Manitoga (including the Parking Lot and Trails) is a smoke-free environment.

What to bring
Please wear sensible outdoor walking shoes, dress for weather (including sunscreen and insect repellent as needed), and carry drinking water.
